CARBON NANOBUDS™ - Application specific novel hybrid carbon nanomaterial
Carbon NanoBuds™ have been shown to be extremely efficient electron field emitters and have excellent conductive properties with wide ranging mechanical, electrical and optical applications. In this newly discovered material, fullerene molecules are attached to the outside surface of carbon nanotubes, just like buds on the branch of a tree - hence the name - and can be made in a simple one-step, environmentaly friendly, process.
Canatu is developing industrial scale production methods for high purity carbon NanoBuds™ tailored for specific industrial applications. As a hybrid, material NanoBuds™ combine the extraordinary physical properties of carbon nanotube's with the versitile chemical properties of fullerenes resulting in an outstanding new hybrid material. The qualities can be customized to have specified features, including various patterns, purities, chemical functionality, electrical conductivity, transparency, field emission kick-off voltage, electromagnetic absorption and other application driven properties.
